MAMBA
The ERC Consolidator Grant “Exploring MAMmoth Bone Accumulations in Central Europe (MAMBA)” is a 5 - year project based at the Institute of Systematics and Evolution of Animals Polish Academy of Sciences led by Dr Jarosława Wilczyński. There are five participating institutions from Austria, Czechia, Germany, Sweden and the United Kingdom.
The main goal of the MAMBA project is to understand the genesis of large mammoth bone accumulations and exploring the function they played for the hunter-gatherer societies in Central Europe within the Last Glacial Maximum (LGM). Some of the key sites include Dolní Věstonice I in Czechia, Kraków Spadzista in Poland and Langmannersdorf in Austria.
Der ERC Consolidator Grant „Exploring MAMmoth Bone Accumulations in Central Europe (MAMBA)“ ist ein fünfjähriges Projekt am Institut für Systematik und Evolution der Tiere der Polnischen Akademie der Wissenschaften unter der Leitung von Dr. Jarosława Wilczyński. Beteiligt sind fünf Institutionen aus Österreich, Tschechien, Deutschland, Schweden und dem Vereinigten Königreich.
Hauptziel des MAMBA-Projekts ist es, die Entstehung großer Mammutknochenansammlungen zu verstehen und zu erforschen, welche Funktion sie für die Jäger- und Sammlergesellschaften in Mitteleuropa während des letzten glazialen Maximums (LGM) hatten. Einige der wichtigsten Fundorte sind Dolní Věstonice I in Tschechien, Kraków Spadzista in Polen und Langmannersdorf in Österreich.
